Our Impact

SPIN is a catalyst for equity and opportunity. We empower students to explore STEM as a pathway for discovering their own strengths and passions. SPIN nurtures curiosity, ignites passion, and builds confidence to make STEM approachable and accessible.

Our work begins in elementary school with enrichment that exposes students to cutting edge STEM. In some cases, we add a layer of academic intervention. Through collaboration and capacity building, we ensure that out of school time is engaging and enriching. This work continues through middle and high school, where we add elements of mentorship and opportunities for youth leadership.

A Note from our Executive Directors

Dear SPIN Community,

Ten years ago, SPIN was founded on a revolutionary idea: every young person deserves the opportunity to explore, create, and see themselves in STEM. What started as a small robotics class at the Filipino Community Center has grown into a community-driven organization serving students across King County.

As we celebrate this milestone year, we are deeply grateful for the young people, educators, families, funders, and partners who have helped power this revolution.

Across all of our programs—from elementary classrooms to high school fellowships—we continue to center youth voice, curiosity, and creativity. We see students building skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging in STEM spaces.

As we look ahead to the next decade, our focus is on strengthening and nurturing the programs we believe in deepening quality, sustainability, and long-term impact. Together, we are building a future where race, gender, or zip code never limit a young person’s ability to pursue STEM.

With Gratitude,
Shana & Kat
Executive Directors
